Richardson was drafted in the 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005 Major League Baseball Drafts. The San Francisco Giants signed him after they took him in the 2005 Draft, and he played in the Giants organization until they released him in 2009.[1] He then signed with the Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League. In May 2010, he signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves.[2]
Richardson was called up to the majors for the first time on September 4, 2011, and recorded his first career hit, a single to right field, off of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw in his first career Major League at-bat.[3]
On December 16, 2011, he signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
